Sacristans enjoy a special privilege. Each Saturday, Sacristans prepare the sacred vessels for use during the coming week's liturgies. Among the duties are washing the vessels, cleaning candle followers, replenishing the bread and wine to be consecrated during the coming week, and refilling the individual holy water receptacles.
